Job Overview:

We are currently recruiting a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the community team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced therapist to work with a diverse caseload in a community setting, promoting independence and improving the quality of life for patients in their own homes.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in assessing and treating patients with complex needs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring seamless care across the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out holistic and person-centred occupational therapy assessments in patients' homes or community settings

  • Develop and implement rehabilitation plans to promote independence and improve functional ability

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals including physiotherapists, nurses, and social workers

  • Provide advice and guidance on adaptations, equipment, and assistive technology

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with NHS documentation standards

  • Use EMIS (essential) and HIVE (desirable) systems for patient management and reporting

  • Support timely discharge planning and prevent hospital readmissions

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

  • Prior experience working at Band 5 level within the NHS

  • Proficiency in using EMIS (essential); HIVE experience is desirable

  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Full UK driving licence is preferable (community travel may be required)
