Michael Page are recruiting for an Accountant on behalf of one of the UK's leading construction businesses with an office based in Salford.
This role will play a key part of the management accounts function for the business and will support the Finance Manager, an Accountant and two Accounts Assistants in the accurate and timely production of monthly management accounts.

Description
Accountant duties will include:
- Produce accurate management accounts, budgets and forecasts
- Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes
- Ensure accounting policies comply with the relevant accounting standards
- Prepare monthly profit and loss account and balance sheet
- Timely production of statutory and internal financial reports
- Monitor budgets, ensure targets are within the budget
- Ensure all balance sheet items are accurate and reconciled
- Financial modelling, estimating and analysis of contracts
- Ensure appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained
- Review payroll transactions to ensure accuracy
- Recommend changes that will improve the company's financial performance and financial controls
- Work closely with the Group Finance Team to facilitate year end consolidated accounts
- Assist with completion of all financial, regulatory and statutory returns (Corporation Tax Computation, CIS, CITB)
- Lead the annual stock takes, liaising with our merchant to ensure stock is accurately recorded
Profile
The successful candidate will:
- Have a proven track record in a similar role (accountant, management accountant, assistant management accountant).
- Be part qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA / AAT or qualified by experience.
- Have knowledge of the construction industry - beneficial, not essential.
- Have knowledge of COINS system - beneficial, not essential.
- Be able to work to tight deadlines.
- Be an excellent written and verbal communicator.
- Be proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
Job Offer
- A salary of £35,000 - £40,000
