Our client in the Salford area are looking for a Commercial Manager
Must have experience of development of their own pipeline and in managing/developing a sales team and creating a sales strategy. C45 - 50K, 4K car allowance. Open ended commission.
The ideal candidate will be from an energy sector background, or has experience in renewables, infrastructure, district heating, metering or engineering.
As a Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commercial success and growth of our organization. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company's commercial activities, including sales, business development, account management and client relationships. Your strategic vision, strong leadership skills, and business acumen will be essential in developing and implementing effective commercial strategies to achieve our company's objectives and maximize profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing Commercial Strategy:
Help define and implement commercial strategies aligned with our overall goals and objectives.
Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
Drive innovation and creativity in commercial initiatives to gain a competitive edge in the market.
- Sales & Business Development:
Lead the sales team in developing and executing sales plans to meet or exceed revenue targets.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and strategic partnerships.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders to foster long-term partnerships and repeat business.
- Contract Negotiation and Management:
Negotiate favourable terms and conditions for contracts, agreements, and partnerships to reduce risk and maximise profitability.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and oversee contract management processes to mitigate potential disputes or conflicts.
- Financial Management:
Develop and manage commercial budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to achieve revenue and profit targets.
Monitor financial performance against key metrics and KPIs and implement corrective actions as necessary to optimize commercial outcomes.
- Team Leadership and Development:
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the commercial team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Recruit, train, and develop talent within the commercial team to enhance their skills and capabilities.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including marketing, operations, and finance teams, to ensure alignment and synergy across all functions.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field
- Proven experience in a similar commercial management role, with a track record of driving sales growth and profitability.
- Strong understanding of commercial principles, market dynamics, and business strategy.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and CRM software.
- Flexibility to travel as needed.
