Job Opportunity: Sports Professional Transitioning into Education Sector

Are you passionate about working with children and supporting their development? Do you have a background in sports, and are you eager to bring your skills into the classroom to make a difference in children’s lives? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is ready to transition from sports coaching into the education sector, with a focus on supporting children in the classroom, including those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Position: Teaching Assistant (with a focus on SEMH support)Location: Salford and Central Manchester

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children in the classroom to help them achieve their academic and personal development goals, with a specific focus on those with SEMH needs.
  • Use your sports background to engage children in active learning, promoting teamwork, self-confidence, and physical well-being.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of tailored learning plans to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging emotional and social growth through both structured activities and informal interactions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to provide the best support for children’s learning and well-being.
  • Help maintain a positive classroom environment that supports inclusivity, patience, and respect for all students.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Background in sports or physical education, with experience working with children (coaching, mentoring, or youth sports programs).
  • Strong interest in transitioning into education, particularly in supporting children with SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to working with children of all backgrounds.
  • Ability to build trust and positive relationships with children who may require extra emotional and social support.
  • A proactive and patient attitude with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of children.
  • (Desirable) Previous experience working within a school environment or supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).
