Our client is looking for a Finance Business Partner, to be the finance lead and oversea the financial aspects of a project as it progresses

Description

The primary responsibility of the Finance Business Partner role is to be the finance lead and oversea the financial aspects of a project as it progresses. You will be focused on time-based projects that have their own individual budgets and deliverable and will be expected to provide ongoing reports on the financial performance and KPI's of these projects. These projects include BDUK (government) awarded projects as well as internal strategic projects. You will be responsible for holding project managers responsible for financial performance, timely reporting against any contractual obligations as well as providing key KPI's for monthly board packs. To be successful in this role you must work with project team deliver projects on/below budget and flag any risks and how they may be mitigated to the project managers and senior finance team.

  • In conjunction with the Project/Contract Manager create and maintain budgets for all financial aspects of projects
  • Analyse and approve outgoing expenses in line with agreed budgets.
  • Ensure all financial risk of each project is captured in the company business plan and in the project risk register.
  • Work with AR & AP to ensure timely payments and receipts of any funds or subsidies.
  • Business partner with key stakeholders to streamline financial processes to support the timely and efficient completion of projects within budget.
  • Working with Project/Contract Manager to provide timely and clear reporting on key financial and key KPI's of projects to be included in any reporting packs.
  • Work with the project team to maintain and create any relevant financial models.
  • Flag any risks to the budget to the project/contract manager and senior financial team along with potential options to mitigate.
  • Track the NPV's and IRRs of the project to ensure they are on track and deliver correct returns to investors.
  • Identify ways to streamline costs and enhance commercials to improve project returns.
  • Work with the PMO to provide financial analysis for any future business cases required.
  • Support the assessment of claims and payment reconciliation.

Profile

Skills & Experience

  • Strong Excel skills including knowledge of pivot tables and complex formulae.
  • Previous experience working on and delivering projects against budgets is desirable
  • Previous experience working with government contracts is desirable.
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness.
  • Sound financial modelling skills to assist with financial planning.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and written to all levels of the organisation and external parties.
