Job Duties of a Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise and manage classroom activities in the absence of the regular teacher
- Ensure students are on task and adhere to school policies
- Assist with the implementation of lesson plans provided by the teacher
- Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Manage student behaviour and resolve conflicts when necessary
- Report back to the teacher on student progress and any issues that arise
Required Qualifications:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Experience working with children or young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Experience:
- Prior experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential
- Prior experience working as a Cover Supervisor is desirable but not essential
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of classroom management techniques
- Ability to engage and motivate students
- Basic knowledge of educational principles
Working Conditions:
- Work hours typically follow the school day schedule
- May require standing or walking for extended periods
- Potential exposure to classroom noise and student behaviour
