Our client is a leading Freight and Logistics supply chain company based in Salford. Working within the busy Freight Forwarding team, the purpose of the role is to manage key customer's requirements relating to their freight shipments.

We now have an urgent requirement for a Temporary Senior Import Assistant. This role is offered on an initial 6 Month contract which may also has the potential to be extended or even made permanent

Working within the busy Freight Management team, the purpose of the role is to manage key customer's requirements relating to their imports shipping needs

Key Tasks:

  • Organising the Import of varied cargo by any or a combination of transport modes
  • Liaise with customers to obtain shipment authorisations
  • Monitor and manage cargo movements from origin to final point of destination
  • Ensure full compliance of appropriate legislation and regulations and all documentation relevant to the movement of Import cargo
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with customers
  • Provide regular communication to customers of shipment progress
  • Manage Customs processes necessary for the import of shipments
  • Resolving any customer service issues for the customer
  • Obtain rates and prepare quotations on request or on receipt of a booking
  • Prepare documents for invoicing
  • Liaising with customers to determine other opportunities for new lanes /activity

Experience required:

  • Previous freight forwarding gained in imports and experience of international shipping processes is essential
  • Previous experience of working with Cargowise is an advantage but not essential as training can be given
  • Knowledge of import activities
  • Proficient in the use of work/excel and email
  • Previous administrative experience is essential
  • Excellent organisational, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Previous experience of working within a fast paced environment
