As a Motor claims handler, you'll oversee motor claims, ensuring vehicles are repaired to pre-accident condition or accurately valued if beyond repair. You'll negotiate settlements, audit repairers, and provide technical guidance to our claims teams. Motor Claims Handler responsibilities:

  • Ensure vehicles involved in claims are restored to pre-accident condition using the correct repair methods at fair costs.
  • Provide a triage solution for non-approved repairers to ensure repairs meet standards.
  • Accurately categorize and value vehicles deemed beyond economical repair or stolen/unrecovered.
  • Conduct market research to determine repair costs, salvage values, and settlement options.
  • Audit and evaluate repairers’ work, making recommendations on repair quality, costs, and service levels.
  • Liaise with customers, repairers, and third parties to set clear expectations regarding repairs, total losses, and settlements.
  • Handle valuation disputes, total loss reports, and repair-related complaints with technical expertise and clear communication.
  • Offer engineering support for third-party claims, credit hire disputes, and mechanical/electrical issues.
  • Stay updated on modern repair techniques, vehicle technologies, and industry trends.

Skills & experience required:

  • Experience in the motor trade industry
  • AQP qualification (preferred)
  • Strong negotiation & communication skills
  • Technical expertise in modern vehicle repairs and valuation
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (FOS, FSA, DPA)
