About Us:Cover People UK are recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in a secondary school in Salford. This full-time role is focused on providing essential mental health and emotional well-being support to children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The position is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive difference in students' lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them navigate their learning environment.
  • Assist teachers in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere.
  • Work with students to build emotional resilience and develop coping strategies.
  • Monitor and support students' mental health and well-being, helping them engage positively with their learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to tailor support plans that meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Promote a nurturing, empathetic environment that fosters personal growth and academic progress.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a classroom setting is preferred.
  • Proven experience supporting children with SEMH/Mental Health needs is essential.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one, is mandatory.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a calm and supportive approach to managing challenging behaviour.
  • A genuine passion for supporting childrenā€™s mental health and helping them succeed academically.
