BSL Specialist TA A large, flourishing primary school in Salford is looking to appoint a Level 2 Qualified Teaching Assistant with additional training in BSL. The successful qualified TA will be needed to work 1:1 with a pupil with Hearing Impairment.About the role:This Qualified Teaching Assistant job is to start working full-time asap and will continue till at least Easter, potentially extending if the funding can be secured next financial year. The head teacher is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who holds a Level 2 TA qualification or equivalent and at least BSL Level 2 Qualification. The job involves working 1:1 with a pupil in Year 1; accompanying them to lessons to sign for them and providing general academic support. You will work primarily in the classroom, although you will also go to the hearing base within the school for speech and language sessions etc. The successful Teaching Assistant will join a team of 4 other TAs working in the base. You will be required to cover lunchtimes and breaks on a rota basis, and will also take turns signing during assembly for all the hearing impaired pupils in the school.If you are an empathetic and inspirational Teaching Assistant with experience of using BSL in a classroom environment, then this is the ideal job for you.The successful Teaching Assistant will hold the relevant qualification in addition to having experience of supporting children in a primary school setting for at least 6 months in the last 2 years.
