Orion is working with a global leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of precision material testing machines. With a rich history of innovation and quality, they specialise in static tension and compression testing machines, alongside specialist grips, fixtures, and applications. They are currently seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our team in the UK.

 

The Role of the Mechanical Fitter:


As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a crucial role in assembling, building, and fitting material testing machines and precision instruments. This includes mechanical and pneumatic grips, electronic displays, and wiring looms. You will ensure that our high-quality standards are met while working with a range of tools and equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Fitter:

  • Mechanical Assembly Build and fit parts for testing machines, ensuring precision and quality.
  • Tool Usage Operate pillar drills, manual lathes, and other toolroom equipment.
  • Quality Assurance Monitor and check product quality to meet company standards.
  • Documentation Complete necessary paperwork, including timesheets and work orders.
  • Workshop Maintenance Keep tools organised, maintain a clean workstation, and assist with annual stock counts.
  • Health & Safety Compliance Adhere to company policies and industry best practices.

 

What Were Looking for in the Mechanical Fitter

  • Apprentice-trained, NVQ / HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical engineering background.
  • Experience with close tolerance assembly in a machine-build environment.
  • Proficiency in using micrometers, verniers, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Hands-on experience operating a variety of hand and machine tools.
