NEW VACANCY Legal Cashier | 12-month FTC | 4 Day Week I’m looking to speak with an experienced Legal Cashier to join a friendly team at a law firm in Salisbury on a 12-month temporary contract to cover maternity leave starting in July 2025. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid experience in legal finance to take on a key role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts department.Your main responsibility will be overseeing all cashiering duties, ensuring everything runs smoothly across the department. This includes managing the accounting system, handling billing and credit control, and managing client balances. You’ll work alongside the Junior Legal Cashier to process accounts, handle client payments through online banking, and ensure the firm complies with all SRA and other regulatory requirements.The role is a four-day-a-week position, with the salary depending on your experience. Day-to-day tasks will involve reconciling bank statements, processing supplier payments, posting client and office transactions, setting up CHAPS and BACS payments, checking completion statements, managing petty cash transactions, and overseeing month-end processing. You’ll also manage payroll, liaising with accountants on hours, new starters, and PAYE/NI, as well as reconciling the partners’ credit card expenses and preparing VAT reports. In addition, you'll be responsible for creating and apportioning invoices.To be a good fit for the role, you’ll need at least five years of experience in a law firm accounts department. A strong understanding of legal finance, including Solicitors Accounts Rules and SRA compliance, is essential. You should also be highly organised, with excellent numeracy and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
