About the Role:
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Assistant Social Worker to join our team in Salisbury, specializing in Learning Disabilities. As an Assistant Social Worker, you will play a key role in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and their families. You will work closely with qualified social workers and multi-disciplinary teams to provide person-centered care and help empower individuals to lead independent lives.
Key Responsibilities for a Assistant Social Worker:

Support in Casework: Assist qualified social workers in carrying out assessments, developing care plans, and providing ongoing support to individuals with learning disabilities and their families.

Client Engagement: Build positive relationships with service users, listening to their needs, and supporting them in accessing services and resources.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans, reviews, and other case-related documents in line with safeguarding and data protection requirements.

Collaborate with Teams: Work alongside social workers, health professionals, and other services to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to care.

Support Service Users: Help individuals with learning disabilities access services such as community programs, education, employment opportunities, and leisure activities.

Safeguarding: Support safeguarding processes by identifying any risks or concerns and reporting them to senior staff as appropriate.

Admin Support: Assist in the preparation of reports, meetings, and case reviews, and ensure smooth running of the team’s administrative functions.
Essential Qualifications and Experience for a Assistant Social Worker:
- A strong passion for working with individuals with learning disabilities and a commitment to supporting vulnerable people.
- Previous experience in a care or social work setting (paid or voluntary) is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable individuals.
Desirable for a Assistant Social Worker:
- Experience working with people with learning disabilities or in a social care setting.
- A relevant qualification such as a Health and Social Care NVQ or similar would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- A good understanding of the Care Act 2014, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation would be beneficial but not required.
