Job Title: Buyer

Location: Sandwich, Kent

Environment: Open plan office, next to a newly built factory in 2019, free parking on site, staff canteen with free coffee.

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8am - 4:45pm, Friday 8am - 4:30pm, 9 day working week across a fortnight - with every other Friday off

Salary: 30,000 - 34,000 DOE

Hybrid: Yes, the opportunity to work from home 1 day a week, once you're fully trained/passed your probationary period

Benefits: 25 days annual leave + Bank holidays, Benenden Healthcare

As the Buyer your responsibilities would be:

To play a crucial role in supporting the Supply Chain Manager by purchasing all materials necessary for our client's business operations. Your keen analytical skills will help you collate and assess order requirements and supplier information. You will also provide essential administrative support to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams to obtain detailed quotations.
  • Raise Purchase Orders (POs) and Purchase Requisitions (PRs) efficiently.
  • Generate Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposals (RFP), and Requests for Quotations (RFQ) with a clear cost breakdown format.
  • Negotiate prices and delivery schedules, ensuring optimal terms for the organisation.
  • Analyse quotations and prepare comparative analyses to support decision-making.
  • Resolve invoice queries promptly and effectively.
  • Provide data for accurate and regular supplier performance monitoring.
  • Prepare comprehensive Purchasing Reports for internal use.
  • Manage order progression to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Ensure compliance with import and export regulations and handle customs documentation.
  • Undertake any other tasks necessary to support the business effectively.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Proven experience in an Engineering Procurement environment.
  • A track record of operating in fast-paced, rapidly changing settings.
  • Familiarity with exporting and importing goods is essential.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • A proactive mindset and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
