Project Engineer

Our client is a market leader in the manufacturing sector with a strong reputation for innovation and quality. They are seeking a talented and driven Project Engineer to join their dynamic projects team.
This exciting role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge equipment, liaise with industry-leading clients, and oversee projects from inception to successful completion.
Role Overview:The Project Engineer will take ownership of contracts from receipt of order to installation and handover, serving as the primary point of contact for customers. The role involves close collaboration with clients and internal departments, as well as overseeing installation and managing subcontractors in the UK and abroad.
This is primarily an office-based role but requires flexibility for site visits, overnight UK trips, and occasional overseas travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and agree on project scope with customers and the sales team.
- Manage and maintain project schedules using Gantt charts.
- Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including scope of supply, timing plans, P&ID, BOMs, and layout drawings.
- Specify and source components and equipment.
- Manage project changes effectively.
- Ensure timely invoicing and maintain commercial awareness throughout project lifecycles.
- Organise delivery and installation of equipment, including:
- Customer acceptance testing (FAT/PDI).
- Packing, shipping, and export paperwork (if required).
- Installation planning, resource booking, and documentation (RAMs).
- Conduct site acceptance testing and provide training/documentation handovers.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role within a process engineering environment, ideally in the food processing industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise across all business levels.
- Enthusiastic approach with a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and MS Project.
- Proficient in AutoCAD LT.
- Knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and pipework, with a basic understanding of electrical control systems, is highly advantageous.
- Full UK driving license is required.
