Electrical Design Engineer

About the Company:

The company are a long-established and highly regarded Electrical Building Services contractor based near Sawbridgeworth. 

Specialising in commercial and office fit-out projects, they deliver end-to-end electrical solutions from design through to installation and commissioning. With project values typically ranging from £50k to £3m, they are known for quality, reliability, and innovation in the sector.

Due to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, they are now seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their team.

The Role:

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing efficient, cost-effective electrical systems for a range of building services projects. You’ll work closely with project managers, estimators, and site teams to develop and deliver tailored solutions that meet client requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed electrical designs, drawings, and specifications for commercial and office fit-out projects
  • Conduct load calculations, lighting designs, cable sizing, and distribution layouts
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams including project managers, engineers, and consultants
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, industry codes, and safety standards
  • Support the tendering process by contributing to technical submissions and reviewing specifications
  • Attend site meetings and client briefings where required
  • Assist in commissioning and handover documentation when necessary

Electrical Design Engineer - Desirable experience and skills:

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within the Building Services sector
  • Strong knowledge of current electrical standards and regulations (e.g., BS7671)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other relevant design software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux/Relux)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Located within a commutable distance of Sawbridgeworth
