Join our client as a Shift Maintenance Engineer and play a crucial role in ensuring seamless production and resolving engineering maintenance and process issues during shifts. This permanent position offers the chance to work on production shifts, supporting the implementation of new equipment and processes while ensuring uninterrupted production 24 hours a day. As a Shift Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshooting and resolving engineering maintenance and process issues that arise during shifts, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Supporting the implementation of new equipment and processes, collaborating closely with the production team to ensure seamless integration.
  • Ensuring the client's ability to produce products continuously by proactively monitoring and maintaining machinery and equipment.
  • Providing feedback to the production management team regarding issues encountered during shifts and suggesting improvements for enhanced efficiency.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities by actively participating in problem-solving and suggesting innovative solutions.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety throughout all maintenance activities.

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Formal apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in electrical, mechanical, and/or maintenance engineering.
  • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 18th Edition qualification is desirable.
  • If not 18th Edition qualified, the candidate must be competent and confident with single-phase supplies and equipment.
  • Experience with three-phase systems, motor starters, control panels, and motors is desirable.
  • Experience with variable speed drives is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of bearings and drive transmission systems, including different types, applications, and the necessary practical skills.
  • Proficiency in disassembling and assembling machinery and equipment components.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems quickly and independently, based on analysis and factual evidence.
  • Self-starting and self-motivated, comfortable working independently or as part of a larger team.
  • Knowledge and experience with polymer processing technology and equipment is an advantage.
  • Computer literate, competent with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with computer maintenance management systems, such as Pirana used at our site.
  • Willingness to take responsibility and make decisions when required. Equally, must have a balanced outlook on their abilities and know when to seek assistance or advice.
