Additional Needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students aged 8-16 with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with diverse Special Educational Needs.
- Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
- Deliver intervention programmes to individuals and small groups.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to class teachers.
- Supervise students during learning activities, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
- Support communication through verbal and non-verbal techniques.
Additional Needs Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Have experience working with children or young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Possess strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Have a strong understanding and knowledge of social, emotional, and mental health needs and associated behaviours.
- Hold a relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent, or have relevant hands-on experience and transferable skills.
- Be aware of safeguarding procedures and have a commitment to the welfare of children.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
