Join our dedicated team as a Teaching Assistant, specializing in Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will work closely with educators to deliver tailored support to students with unique learning needs, enhancing their educational experience through one-on-one and small group interventions. Candidates should be empathetic, proactive, and experienced in supporting SEN learners.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (SEN Support):

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, both in and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored interventions to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and confidence.
  • Work closely with class teachers to monitor and track the progress of SEN students, adjusting support as needed.
  • Help with the preparation of resources and assist students during lessons, ensuring they have the tools to succeed.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills and independence.
  • Contribute to the creation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other relevant documentation.
  • Promote positive behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.

Requirements of the Teaching Assistant (SEN Support):

  • Previous experience working with SEN students or relevant training in special education is preferred.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for helping students overcome learning barriers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the diverse needs of students in a dynamic classroom setting.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting all students.
  • Understanding of various SEN conditions.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
