GSL Education is seeking Special Needs Teaching Assistants to join a dedicated SEND school in Scarborough, supporting students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, learning difficulties, and speech & language needs. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your duties will include:
- Preparing and adapting learning materials based on lesson plans provided by the class teacher, ensuring they cater to individual student needs.
- Supporting students' physical, social, and emotional well-being, helping them engage positively in their education.
- Using creative and interactive approaches to enhance student learning and communication.
- Collaborating with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists to support students’ development.
- Providing personal care where necessary to ensure the well-being of students.
- Supporting students with positive behaviour strategies, helping them develop independence and confidence.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- At least 6 months of experience in an educational, healthcare, or support role.
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, or physical disabilities.
- A willingness to provide personal care and tailored support when required.
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to working with students with additional needs.
- A Level 2 or higher qualification, such as Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (desirable but not essential).
