We are looking for a Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistant to join our supportive educational team. In this role, you will assist in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment by using positive behaviour management strategies. You will work directly with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours, applying de-escalation techniques and supporting their social and academic development. A valid Team Teach certification and experience in behaviour support within an educational setting are essential.
Responsibilities of the Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistant:
- Support students with challenging behaviours by applying Team Teach de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
- Work closely with teachers to implement individualised support plans and strategies that address the specific needs of students.
- Assist in creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and respect for others.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them engage in classroom activities and achieve academic goals.
- Encourage and model positive social behaviours, communication skills, and emotional regulation.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other relevant staff.
- Work collaboratively with the wider school team, including special education staff, pastoral care teams, and external agencies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with additional needs.
- Always ensure the safety and well-being of students, following school policies and safeguarding procedures.
Requirements of the Team Teach Trained Teaching Assistant:
- Valid Team Teach certification (must be current and up-to-date).
- Experience in supporting students with behavioural needs, particularly within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff, demonstrating empathy and patience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students, teachers, and parents.
- A proactive and flexible approach to working with students who may face challenges in their learning or behaviour.
- A relevant qualification in education, child development, or behaviour support (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in childcare, Special Educational Needs qualification, or equivalent) is desirable.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
