Junior Electrical Design Engineer | Scunthorpe | Hybrid | Up to £28,000

Situation:

An ambitious Junior Electrical Design Engineer is required to join a leading provider of communication and security systems for the UK rail network, to join a dynamic team in delivering an expanding and exciting portfolio of rail telecommunication projects. The successful candidate will work alongside key customers such as Network Rail, TfL, and Train Operating Companies. Responsibilities:

  • Produce and self-check electrical power design reports and scheme details, following BS7671 and electrical design standards.
  • Conduct electrical site surveys across the UK, assessing asset condition and proposing design improvements based on findings.
  • Work with an existing engineering team to deliver telecommunications and power solutions for clients.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of low voltage power solutions for rail systems.

Working practices:

  • Contractual hours: Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an electrical design role, producing technical drawings using CAD/Microstation software (Essential)
  • Strong work ethic and proactive attitude (Essential)
  • An understanding of electrical design regulations (BS7671) (Desirable)
  • Experience in the railway sector, particularly in signalling or telecommunications (Desirable)

Desired Education Requirements:

  • CG 2396 Design and Verification of Electrical Installations, or equivalent.
  • CG 2382 BS7671 18th edition.
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Ideally and associate member of the IET.
  • Working towards Incorporated Engineer with the IET or similar.
  • Sentinel personal Track Safety PTS Cardholder.
