Cover Supervisor

We are looking for a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join our team in Scunthorpe. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in working in education, providing classroom supervision and support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The role is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in a school environment or those considering a future career in teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused and on-task.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials, ensuring students are following the work set by the teacher.
• Manage classroom behaviour, maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
• Support students with their learning where appropriate, offering guidance and clarification on tasks.
• Follow school policies and procedures to ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students.
• Report any issues, concerns, or incidents to the appropriate staff members.
• Assist with administrative tasks, including setting up equipment and resources for lessons.
• Provide support in other areas of the school as required, including during lunch and break times.

Requirements:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage classroom behaviour confidently and effectively.
• Adaptability and the ability to engage with students across a range of age groups (11-16).
• A commitment to supporting students' learning and maintaining high expectations.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• An understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training will be provided).

Desirable:

• Previous experience working in a school or educational setting.
• A degree or equivalent qualification (especially if considering a career in teaching).
• Experience working with young people, either in a professional or voluntary capacity.
• Familiarity with school policies and classroom management techniques.
