We are looking for a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join our team in Scunthorpe. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused and on-task.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials, ensuring students are following the work set by the teacher.
  • Manage classroom behaviour, maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Support students with their learning where appropriate, offering guidance and clarification on tasks.
  • Follow school policies and procedures to ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students.
  • Report any issues, concerns, or incidents to the appropriate staff members.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including setting up equipment and resources for lessons.
  • Provide support in other areas of the school as required, including during lunch and break times.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour confidently and effectively.
  • Adaptability and the ability to engage with students across a range of age groups (11-16).
  • A commitment to supporting students' learning and maintaining high expectations.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training will be provided).

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification (especially if considering a career in teaching).
  • Experience working with young people, either in a professional or voluntary capacity.
  • Familiarity with school policies and classroom management techniques.
