Role Description

This full-time Operating Department Practitioner role is located on-site in Scunthorpe. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting surgical teams by preparing and maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures. Other key tasks will include monitoring and responding to patient needs, cooperating with nursing and other healthcare professionals, and contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the surgical team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operating Department Practice or relevant field
  • Registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)/NMC registration
  • Experience in surgical settings
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals across various specialities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work in fast-paced and high-stress environments
  • Proficiency in relevant computer systems, such as EHR and surgical software
  • Anaesthetics Experience
  • Eligibility to work in the UK with out restrictions

Duties of an Operating department practitioner

• Deliver a consistently high standard of patient care utilising evidence-based practice

• Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of all aspect of patient care

• Prepare patients and aid with clinical/operative procedures

• Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives
