- Greet and assist customers at the trade counter, providing knowledgeable advice on products and services.
- Handle customer inquiries, process orders, and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Promote and upsell products to meet customers’ needs, contributing to sales targets.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the product range, pricing, and promotions.
- Build and maintain relationships with both new and existing customers.
- Assist in maintaining stock levels on the trade counter and in the showroom.
- Ensure products are displayed correctly and the counter is well-presented at all times.
- Report any low-stock or out-of-stock items to the relevant team members.
- Process transactions accurately using the till system.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Previous experience in a trade counter or sales role within a Builders Merchant or similar industry is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with building materials and construction products is advantageous.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Competency with basic IT systems and point-of-sale software.
- A proactive, sales-oriented mindset.
- Physical fitness to handle manual tasks, such as lifting and moving products.
