Reed Education are currently supporting a Scunthorpe-based primary school with recruiting a 1:1 teaching assistant to work alongside a child in Year 2. The child has an EHCP and will need someone to work alongside him through the day both in a classroom setting and also out of the classroom.

The role will begin as soon as possible and will be on an ongoing basis. For the ideal candidate, there will be a chance to be made permanent with the school. 

Hours will be 08:30 - 15:30, term-time only and you will be paid a competitive daily rate. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with an assigned child and the class teacher to support their learning and social, emotional development.
  • Maintain consistent behaviour management in line with the school's behaviour policy, ensuring positive reinforcement is used.
  • Monitor the pupil's progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher, setting next steps for learning.
  • Communicate regularly with the child's parents/guardians with updates, alongside outside agencies and the school's SENCO.
  • Regularly keep up to date with changes in the EHCP, policies, strategies and CPD.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to change.
  • Support the child on school trips, during assemblies and other wider-school activities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a school setting however other settings will be considered (nursery, childminders etc).
  • DBS certificate
  • A Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification would be beneficial but not mandatory.
