Job Title: Shunter Driver
Location: Scunthorpe
Work Type: Temporary, Part time, Full time
Pay Rate: £16 p/h
On behalf of one of our clients in Scunthorpe we are looking for an experienced Shunter Driver to join their growing team. As a Shunter Driver you will manage the safe movement of vehicles and trailers within depots and yards.
Responsibilities:
- To ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and trailers on site
- Perform pre and post trip inspections
- Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times
- Report any issues or damages to trailers or vehicles
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license with appropriate class and endorsements
- Experience in operating trucks and trailers
- Ability to manoeuvre vehicles in tight spaces
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
- Physical fitness to perform duties such as coupling and uncoupling trailers, climbing in and out of vehicles, and lifting heavy objects
- Good communication skills to coordinate with dispatchers, other drivers, and loading personnel
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Ability to work in a busy working environment
- Ability to work with their own initiative
