On behalf of one of our clients in Scunthorpe we are looking for an experienced Shunter Driver to join their growing team. As a Shunter Driver you will manage the safe movement of vehicles and trailers within depots and yards.

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and trailers on site
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Report any issues or damages to trailers or vehicles
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license with appropriate class and endorsements
  • Experience in operating trucks and trailers
  • Ability to manoeuvre vehicles in tight spaces
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
  • Physical fitness to perform duties such as coupling and uncoupling trailers, climbing in and out of vehicles, and lifting heavy objects
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with dispatchers, other drivers, and loading personnel
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work in a busy working environment
  • Ability to work with their own initiative
