SEN Teaching Assistant

Reed Education are currently the exclusive recruitment partner for a fantastic SEN setting just outside of Scunthorpe. The setting work closely with schools to provide support for children who are unable to access the curriculum, have SEMH needs or learning difficulties. They provide an inclusive curriculum that the children are able to access and have a high success rate for children being able to either return to mainstream school or who go onto apprenticeships or paid employment.

The manager is looking for a talented teaching assistant who has some experience of working with children who have SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or learning difficulties. The role will be a new one within the provision and will be a Preparation for Adulthood course- you will work with the children to help them understand budgeting, household chores, shopping etc and you will have freedom to plan a range of activities.

The role will begin in September 2024 and will be initially 12 weeks temporary and then you will move over to a contract with the school.

Hours will be 08:30 - 15:30 and you will be paid a competitive daily rate.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work closely with a small group of children to support their learning and social/emotional development.- Help to plan and lead a motivating curriculum to prepare learners for adulthood alongside another colleague.- Maintain consistent behaviour management in line with the school's behaviour policy, ensuring positive reinforcement is used.- Communicate regularly with the children's parents/guardians with updates, alongside outside agencies and the school's SLT and SENCO.- Regularly keep up to date with changes in the EHCP, policies, strategies and CPD.

Essential Requirements:

- Experience working with children, ideally with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or learning difficulties. - DBS certificate (can be applied for through Reed)

- A Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification would be beneficial but not mandatory.
