Location: Tyne & Wear, North East
Hours: 37.5 per week

Division Leadership:

The earthworks and ground remediation division is led by a skilled team with significant experience in civil engineering. The company promotes a stable, family-oriented culture, ensuring long-term career progression for Estimators and other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring that they are financially viable and align with project requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing project documentation and drawings to prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to gather quotes and ensure competitive pricing.
  • Analyzing the scope of works and identifying potential risks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Preparing and submitting tender documents, ensuring they are accurate and submitted within deadlines.
  • Collaborating with project managers and the procurement team to ensure that the estimates align with project timelines and budgets.
  • Updating and revising estimates as project details evolve or scope changes.
  • Assisting with the preparation of budgets and forecasts for ongoing projects.
  • Ensuring that all estimates are consistent with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Maintaining accurate records of estimates, quotes, and tenders for future reference.
  • Supporting the team with any other duties as required during the tendering and procurement process.

Requirements:

To succeed as an Estimator, the ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Some experience (1-2 years) working in estimating, construction, or a related field (earthworks, ground remediation, or similar preferred but not essential).
  • A solid understanding of construction processes and costing methods.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in cost estimation.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Proficient in using estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
