HSEQ MANAGER

The client is a dynamic telecommunications company dedicated to excellence in every aspect of our operations. We specialise in building and expanding the Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband networks of our clients, ensuring a high quality network delivered safely and on schedule. As part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards, we are seeking an HSEQ Manager who can continue to build our culture of continuous improvement.
Role Overview:
As our HSEQ Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will lead the continuous improvement of our systems and processes. Your responsibilities will include maintaining our ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 accredited management systems, implementing a site-based audit programme, ensuring regulatory compliance, undertaking investigations, generating detailed reports, providing training and toolbox talks, and fostering a culture of safety and quality across our operations.
This is a permanent, full-time role. The shift pattern is Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. The projects covered by this role are national, with an expectation of a hybrid role between our head office in Seaham and on site presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of our integrated ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 accredited management systems
- Undertake a rigorous site-based audit programme covering all scopes of works, flagging non-conformances and taking action to improve compliance on our sites.
- Conduct thorough investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures.
- Prepare comprehensive reports outlining findings and recommendations for corrective actions, and present these to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with operational management teams to implement corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Provide training, lead toolbox talks and offer coaching to our teams.
- Support operational management by providing advice on HSEQ matters, helping to overcome delivery blockers with compliant working methods and supporting with the development of risk assessments and method statements.
- Foster a close working partnership with our clients, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
- Stay up-to-date with changes to legislation, industry regulations and standards, ensuring adherence and driving best practices.
Requirements:
- Clean driving licence, held for a minimum of 1 year.
- NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Diploma or a Level 6 safety focused NVQ.
- Other desirable qualifications include SHEA Telecommunications, SA001A, SA002, SA006, NRSWA Supervisor and Confined Space Supervision.
- Experience in a safety-based management role
- Experience of working with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems
- Experience within the telecommunications industry, with knowledge of Openreach PIA specifications and working practices.
- In-depth knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works ACOP.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confidence in coaching individuals and in delivering training to groups.
- Ability to work collaboratively with operational management and stakeholders.
