Mechanical Construction Engineer – CUMBRIA – TEMPORARY 1 YEAR+

VGC Group Limited are looking to recruit a Mechanical Construction Engineer on a temporary 1-year+ contract for an international infrastructure group delivering the UK’s power generation solutions based in Cumbria.

You will play a key part of the team working on one of the most important construction projects on site looking to safely design and deliver requirements in line with the needs of the Client.

Accountabilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of mechanical plant and equipment installation, ensuring seamless integration with the Logistics Team and Supply Chain for the safe and efficient delivery of equipment and materials to site.
  • Process isometric drawings and other project documentation in line with project requirements.
  • Issue construction packages to installation supervisors, ensuring all necessary resources and information are available.
  • Ensure the availability of approved RAMS, permits, and lifting plans for construction activities.
  • Support the development of look-ahead plans based on the project schedule and key milestones.
  • Coordinate the installation of mechanical plant and equipment, including subcontractor activities, while ensuring scaffolding and tools are readily accessible.
  • Monitor, review, and report weekly progress against the project schedule in collaboration with the E & I Installation Manager

Requirements

  • Experience in a mechanical engineering role within construction projects.
  • Prior involvement in project delivery on a nuclear-licensed site.
  • Formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering (minimum HNC).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering practices with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
  • Valid competency card holder.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a small team of supervisors, blue-collar workers, and subcontractors.
  • Experience working with Shield Doors, Gamma gates, and Kuka robot equipment is beneficial.
  • Background in installing bogey and rail systems within a nuclear environment is an advantage.
  • Prior experience working with and on EOTC Cranes is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance
