Location: Cumbria, England

Working Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £43,000 per annum

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team at a large nuclear site. This mobile position involves operating, maintaining, and installing building services across the site. You'll be responsible for both new and existing mechanical systems, ensuring they meet the performance standards required by the contract, client, and our company procedures. This role requires minimal supervision and the ability to work across various locations on the site.

About the Role:

As a Mechanical Fitter in the Facilities Management industry, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of building systems that are critical to the client's facilities. Your responsibilities will include the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on mechanical systems across the nuclear site.
  • Installation: Install new mechanical systems and equipment as required, ensuring compliance with safety standards and client specifications.
  • Health & Safety: Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including risk assessments and method statements, to protect yourself and others on site.
  • Client Liaison: Work closely with client representatives to discuss mechanical issues and implement appropriate solutions, particularly regarding health & safety. ? Subcontractor Management: Coordinate with and oversee subcontractors working across various mechanical workstreams on site.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency breakdowns and ensure the prompt repair of critical systems.

Person Specification:

  • A strong understanding of nuclear site non-core operational practices is advantageous. ? In-depth knowledge of health & safety practices, particularly in a high-risk environment. ? High standards of workmanship and attention to detail in the mechanical trade.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with subcontractors and client representatives.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working as a mechanical fitter in a similar environment. ? Physically capable of performing manual tasks and moving across large site areas.
  • Flexibility regarding working hours, including overtime and weekend shifts.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Fitting or an equivalent trade qualification. ? Full clean driving license.
  • IOSH Working Safely certification (desirable but not essential).
