Senior Mechanical Engineer


Location: Mostly home based with occasional office visits (Cumbria)

Payrate: £50 per hour, Outside IR35

Duration: 12 month contract

Specification:

  • The skill set and passion for engineering with the ability to manage and deliver mechanical engineering design across a wide range of sectors
  • Experienced in the delivery of mechanical services scope of work across multiple projects, as part of a multi discipline design team. Carrying out any or all stages of mechanical design from concept to completion as required by the project
  • Experienced in low carbon and net zero carbon design
  • Experience in the delivering of mechanical building services projects from concept through to handover
  • Knowledge and experience in a range of digital tools including AutoCAD, AutoDesk Revit, IES thermal and energy modelling packages, Hevacomp, NBS and Microsoft packages
  • Proven track record of services project delivery, together with notable projects across a variety of sectors in mechanical services design
  • Proven ability to develop designs conscious of energy conservation, sustainability and with a knowledge basis of renewable technologies
  • Fully conversant with technical and legislation requirements for mechanical services equipment and installation design and management. Have a good knowledge of appropriate technical standards with knowledge of Defence standards being beneficial
  • Able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions on developing the discipline design elements, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way


Minimum requirements:

  • Holds (or meets the criteria to hold) security clearance to MOD SC level
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to influence and negotiate both internally and externally with an open and inclusive style and a positive attitude
  • Educated to at least degree level in mechanical engineering, building services engineering or architectural engineering
  • Experience of Pipe Design
  • Experience detailing and doing GD&T as well
  • Very proficient in CAD modelling and drawing to BS8888 in inventor.
  • Chartered and member of relevant body (working towards this will be considered)
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative and the confidence to make decisions
  • Ability to work well collaboratively, both internally and with external partners
  • Relevant experience in mechanical consultancy engineering
