Temporary Works Coordinator – CUMBRIA – TEMPORARY 1 YEAR+

VGC Group Limited are looking to recruit a Temporary Works Coordinator on a temporary 1-year+ contract for an international infrastructure group delivering the UK’s power generation solutions based in Cumbria.

You will play a key part of the team working on one of the most important construction projects on site looking to safely design and deliver requirements in line with the needs of the Client.

Accountabilities

  • Ensure temporary works align with the project delivery schedule.
  • Act as a deputy for the Temporary Works Coordinator during their absence.
  • Oversee the on-site management of temporary works, including erection, inspection, maintenance (if required), safe use, and dismantling.
  • Inspect erected temporary works and oversee their use, maintenance (if required), and dismantling.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection records throughout the erection, use, maintenance (if required), and dismantling phases.
  • Ensure key temporary works with higher footfall and/or risk are clearly marked with signage, including essential details such as inspection dates, Safe Working Load (SWL), inspector, and authorizing personnel.
  • Conduct design assurance through audits and regular meetings with engineering and project teams, identifying best practices, areas for improvement, and potential concerns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with technical consultants and suppliers, managing their input on design, development, pricing, and delivery for on-site and tender-related technical solutions.
  • Contribute actively to the development and sharing of knowledge and best practices.
  • Maintain and update personal technical expertise and industry knowledge.

Additional Civil Quality Control (QC) Support Duties:

  • Perform on-site QC surveillance of civil engineering works, ensuring compliance with contractor and client specifications.
  • Participate in vendor meetings as needed to support project execution.
  • Review technical documentation, including Quality Packages, Inspection and Test Packs, procedures, and method statements, while compiling concurrent Lifetime Records (LTRs)

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven technical knowledge of temporary works controls, with up-to-date expertise.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience on similar projects.
  • Commitment to attend the in-house Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) course after engagement.
  • Completion of a Health & Safety training course (e.g., SMSTS, IOSH, or equivalent).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with partners and delivery teams under time constraints.
  • IOSH Working Safely or Managing Safely certification
  • Must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance
