North Tyneside (Full Time)

The School and Role

This ‘Good with Outstanding Features’ SEND school, based in North Tyneside, supports children and young people aged 2-19 and is looking to appoint a passionate Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant to work in either Key Stage 1, 2, 3 or 4 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this SEND school as part of an established team, the desired Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEND including Autism, MLD, SLD, ADHD, PMLD, Physical Disabilities, Sensory Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). This full time Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant role is long term from September ongoing.

Requirements

The desired Trainee SEN Teaching Assistant will have;

  • A passion to work in education.
  • A commitment to undertake virtual, evening training sessions and committed to completing the required training and participating in ongoing CPD.
  • Availability to complete a paid placement in a school.
  • Readiness to start working as a TA with us on completion of the programme.
  • Be compassionate, understanding and caring.
  • Be able to build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Be flexible, proactive and a team player.
  • Understand the crucial importance of keeping children and young people safe.
  • Be able to demonstrate at interview the reasons why you want to start a career in education, and explain your understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant and the important part they play in the school community.
  • Be willing to pay for an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service.
