We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Head of English to lead and inspire our English department. This is a unique opportunity to oversee Literacy and English provision across the whole school, engaging with semi-formal and formal pathways at the secondary level. Your work will make a significant impact on students' lives while contributing to a collaborative and supportive school community dedicated to individualised education.

This post is suitable for an experienced teacher who would like to add an additional dimension to their practice, or an ambitious teacher looking to take on a new challenge.

This is a unique residential and day Special School for children and young people with physical disabilities, complex medical needs and associated learning and communication difficulties. They are part of the Kent Special Educational Needs Trust (KsENT) and offer a supportive, collaborative staff environment set in beautiful grounds just outside Sevenoaks.

What We’re Looking For

  • A visionary leader passionate about English education and literacy development.
  • Experience teaching GCSE English Literature and Language (or equivalent).
  • Strong organisational skills to manage long-term and medium-term planning.
  • An advocate for inclusive education, ready to innovate for students with diverse needs.

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
