The School:
This historical school is based on the outskirts of Sevenoaks and provides education and therapy for children in Year 5-13 who have a range of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges. Many of the pupils who attend the school have a designated Education Heath Care Plan (EHCP), which details their specific needs in terms of care and support they will have access to. Children have diagnosis including Anxiety, Autism, Depression and Trauma and the school provides a unique and specialist environment that meets the needs and challenges that the students face. The school offers a highly specialised curriculum, which aims to help all students reach their full potential.
Staff at the setting are calm, compassionate, empathetic, and are good at building relationships with the children. The school has many additional therapies to support the children including speech and language, occupational therapy, psychotherapy, play therapy, and holistic massage therapy.
Information on the 1:1 Teaching Assistant role:
As a 1:1 you will initially work in the Induction Department helping the child transition into the school and become accustomed to the routine of the school day. Once your 1:1 is ready, you will aid them in the process of transitioning into the main school. You will remain with them for as long as is necessary.
Your support will firstly consist of building a strong relationship and rapport so clear communication and strong compassion and empathy skills are essential. You will also provide academic support and encouragement.
Requirements of the Teaching Assistant role:
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Empathetic
- Clear communicator
- Hold an Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
- Able to build relationships quickly
Summary of the Teaching Assistant role:
- Monday-Friday
- 30am-3.30pm
- Term-time only
- 5 hours per week
- £85-£100 per day
