We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide essential support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role is crucial in facilitating access to learning programmes and college services, enhancing personal development, and achieving educational outcomes aligned with individual Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).
Day-to-day of the role:- Provide person-centred learning support to students with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
- Support may include assistance with personal care as necessary.
- Work with individuals or small groups to encourage engagement with activities or to work independently.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents/carers, and other agencies involved with the students.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, discrimination issues, and the challenges faced by those with learning difficulties.
- Willingness to assist learners with personal care and mobility.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Exceptional organisational skills combined with proficient IT and sound administration skills.
- Experience working with SEN learners in a secondary or further education environment is desirable.
