Role Overview:We are seeking a Student Support Assistant to join our dedicated team in a temp-to-perm role. This role will support students with a range of physical, learning, and medical needs, ensuring that they receive the best possible care, education, and personal support throughout their school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with PMLD, severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and complex medical needs.
- Assist with personal care routines, including feeding, toileting, dressing, and moving/handling.
- Support students in accessing learning activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create and implement tailored learning and care plans.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment to promote students' development and engagement.
- Be proactive in responding to the medical needs of students, following care plans and protocols.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience in a support or care role, particularly within an SEN or healthcare setting, is highly desirable.
- Personal care experience is essential (supporting students with feeding, toileting, and other personal needs).
- A compassionate and patient approach with the ability to build trust with students and their families.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
