Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead and manage the provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to support students with SEMH needs.
  • Coordinate and oversee the creation and review of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure the needs of all students are met.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEND, providing regular reports to senior leadership and parents.
  • Provide training and support to staff on best practices for supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and school policies related to SEND.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school environment that promotes the well-being and academic achievement of all students.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards it.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or a related field are desirable.
