Dorset Council Fleet Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated Commercial Vehicle Technician to join our team at the Charminster workshops in Shaftesbury. You will work alongside one other Technician, maintaining and servicing our diverse fleet of vehicles.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Servicing and maintaining a variety of vehicles, including light and heavy commercial vehicles, buses, gritters, and refuse collection vehicles.
- Conducting safety inspections and preparing vehicles for annual tests, including steam cleaning.
- Addressing breakdowns and repairs, with occasional roadside assistance.
- Ensuring frontline vehicles are operational as quickly as possible, which may require flexibility in availability.
- Traveling to other local workshops as needed.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workshop.
- Attending training sessions arranged by Dorset Council.
What We're Looking For:
- Prior experience working on commercial vehicles, with a minimum NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds qualification in vehicle maintenance/engineering or equivalent.
- A full UK driving license is essential (Class C entitlement is advantageous).
- Sound knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and the DVSA guide to "Maintaining Roadworthiness Commercial, Goods, and Public Service Vehicles."
- A positive attitude, adaptability, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to delivering first-class customer service.
Job Types: Full-time, Temp to perm
Pay: £15.48-£17.59 per hour
