We are recruiting for an experienced Science Teacher to teach up to GCSE level for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and those who may display challenging behaviours. Our School are passionate about providing an inspiring, engaging, and vibrant environment where students can engage in learning, develop resilience, and achieve their targets. The School are looking for a Science Teacher who is passionate, patient, and committed to helping students excel in their education.

 

As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons tailored to meet the unique needs students. You will be teaching KS3 and KS4 students in small classes with experienced learning support assistants to support you.

This is a full-time, permanent role and the salary will be equal to the main Teacher’s pay scale plus SEN points.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver Science lessons up to GCSE level.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Work closely with other staff to track progress, and adapt teaching methods as needed.
  • Foster a supportive and understanding environment where students feel safe to explore and ask questions.
  • Use a trauma-informed approach to support students with SEMH needs and create trust-based relationships.
  • Promote social, emotional, and academic growth through consistent feedback, encouragement, and structured routines.

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant teaching experience, preferably in SEN or SEMH settings.
  • A strong understanding of SEMH and behaviour management strategies.
  • Patience, resilience, and an empathetic approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Experience in teaching Science.
  • Experience in adapting curriculum content to make learning accessible and engaging for students with SEMH needs.
