We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management and accounting practices, with proficiency in various accounting software. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor.• Manage a portfolio of SME and individual clients, tailoring services to meet their needs.

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Prepare and review financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.• Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, and other relevant journal entries.• Manage the statutory accounts process preparing working papers for review.• Produce and submit accurate and timely tax returns (VAT, corporation tax, self-assessment). • Provide accurate and detailed balance sheet reconciliations, supported by comprehensive schedules.• Reconcile invoice finance accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolution of discrepancies.

Client and Stakeholder Support

  • Support clients with financial planning and cost-saving opportunities.• Respond to supplier and customer queries promptly and professionally.• Stay updated on legislative changes affecting clients and the business.

Operational Oversight and Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes for internal efficiency and client satisfaction.• Assist in the optimisation of accounting systems, including cloud-based solutions.

Qualifications

  • Qualified or part-qualified Accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

Experience

Experience working in an accountancy practice. • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting, tax compliance, and accounting standards.• Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., Xero, Sage, Paycircle).• Experience managing month-end and year-end accounts processes.• Experience managing a portfolio of SME and/or individual clients.
