The Business & Opportunity:

Fantastic opportunity to play an instrumental role with this small, but established and fast-growing entrepreneurial business, operating across the property and social care sectors.

As Financial Controller, you will work closely with the CEO supporting the fund to enable new investments and M&A opportunities, as well as manage their existing portfolio of businesses.

You will be based from their offices in Sheffield and be part of their senior leadership team, being influential in the future direction of the business.

Your Remit:

Reporting to the CEO, you will take responsibility for a wide remit, which will include:

  • Being an active part of the Senior Management team which sets the strategy for the company.
  • Supporting the CEO / Owner with growth and investment initiatives, assessing business cases and conducting high level analysis into potential business acquisitions
  • Shaping the future of the finance team.
  • Managing the day-to-day portfolio of businesses, ensuring all accounts are managed and filed in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Ensuring appropriate MI and data are fit for purpose and enable effective financial management of the businesses
  • Carrying out financial management of a range of family trusts
  • Working with a wide range of stakeholders including banks, tax advisors, auditors etc
  • Managing all aspects of taxation (VAT, Corporation Tax)
  • Providing ownership for the financial controls, systems, processes, measures and reporting for the business.
  • Financial leadership to the business, including forecasting, budgeting, and analysing variations from budget.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ACMA or Qualified By Experience
  • Previous experience at Financial Controller level in SME’s (ideally with private or family ownership).
  • A self-starter and strong character to influence and add value to the senior management team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience from either the property or care sector will prove advantageous, but is no means a pre-requisite.
  • Experience of statutory accounting, taxation and management accounting
  • Have a genuine passion, ambition and drive, together with commercial acumen in order to help their ambitious growth plans.
  • Experience of managing personal finances for high net worth individuals would be an advantage
