In a fast-paced and varied Management Accountant role based in Sheffield, you will lead on all aspect of management reports, budgeting and analysis along with providing strategic financial insights, collaborating with a variety of stakeholders. There will also include management and day-to-day leadership of a team of talented Finance Officers, overseeing their work and ensuring high performance.
Additional responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Senior Management Accountant during the budget setting process and provide clear direction to Finance Officers
- Leading and co-ordinating the month end processes to ensure they are completed in accordance with the month-end timetable
- Monitor the completion of key monthly procedures which include, reconciliations, contingencies and central reports, in accordance with the month-end process, ensuring these are accurate and up to date
- Update and monitor the Key Performance Indicators for the team and review performance and standard of work provided to stakeholders and the Force
- Prepare high quality and accurate monthly budget monitoring reports for Business Units, including the capital, grant and savings appendices
- Line Management of a team of Finance Officers, providing direction and leadership, proactively managing performance, setting clear and stretching objectives, providing regular and constructive feedback, training and development and timely PDRs
Profile
For this Finance Officer position, we're looking for:
- Ideally qualified with or studying towards CCAB qualification
- Significant and demonstrable management accounting experience
- Up to date with current accounting issues and good, practical accounting knowledge
- Experience of building strong working relationships and establishing personal credibility with senior managers and budget holders
- Experience of leading a team and staff management is preferred
