Purpose:

 

To design, develop, and optimise composite structures and manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with performance, quality and safety standards while driving innovation in advanced materials engineering.

 

 

Responsible For:

 

Composite design, manufacturing, and testing processes.

 

 

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

 

  • Assume responsibility for the design, analysis, and validation of composite structures.
  • Oversee the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes for composite components.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as AS9100, through rigorous testing and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals, timelines, and cost targets.
  • Identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and performance.

 

 

Definition of Key Tasks:

 

  • Design and analyse composite structures using CAD and FEA tools.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing methods such as prepreg, autoclave, and RTM processes.
  • Conduct material testing and validation to meet performance specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges in design, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Generate documentation for New Product Introduction (NPI) and train stakeholders on required standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and maintain compliance with AS9100 and other relevant standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, enhance quality, and improve overall performance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers to address technical requirements and resolve quality-related issues.

 

 

Skills And Experience:

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in composites engineering, ideally within aerospace, automotive, or a high-performance industry.
  • Proficiency in composite design, analysis, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as AS9100 and NADCAP is highly desirable.

 

Key Competencies:

 

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD and FEA tools, as well as materials testing and validation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
