W Talent are now supporting a heavy industry business located in Sheffield who are looking to recruit a Quality Engineer. The role holder will be the main representative of the Quality department to daily operations, customer, and supplier representatives, whilst maintaining day-to-day supervisory responsibility across the internal Quality Department.

The Quality Engineer will actively facilitate improvements in quality across the business, its customers, and suppliers. The position is responsible for the application, maintenance, development, and assessment of all quality-related areas within the business.

These include;

  • Maintaining quality standards, planning, reporting, procedure development and collaborating on supplier quality improvement.
  • The successful candidate will establish and achieve planned performance levels in product conformance and process capability.
  • They will promptly report any variance from the plan and recommend corrective action(s). Working with management, they will develop, optimise, and implement policies to create a clear vision and the execution of a results-driven Quality Management System.
  • The will foster business-wide improvements and high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervisory responsibility across the Quality team and deputise for the UK Quality Manager as directed.
  • Act as the main representative of the Quality department to internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers daily.
  • Ensure that all customer issues and returns, from initial contact through to timely resolution, are achieved to departmental requirements.
  • Ensure that corrective and preventive action processes effectively identify root causes of issues and implement robust corrective/preventive actions to ensure permanent resolution.
  • Analyze customer issues and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Organise and oversee the completion of the agreed internal audit schedule, ensuring all audits are carried out on time.
  • Ensure that all actions identified during internal audits are allocated and completed within a timely manner.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure understanding and adherence to quality requirements and standards.
  • Manage and complete First Article Inspection (FAI) Reports for customers in line with AS9102 requirements.
  • Provide quality input in design and process reviews to ensure products are manufactured right first time, instilling a no-fault-forward ethos.
  • Work with staff and co-workers to utilise quality improvement methods for assessment, planning, implementation, and validation.
  • Assist in the development and timely updates of policies and procedures essential to the administration and operation of the Quality Management System.
  • Devise sampling procedures and implement systems for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of two years' experience working within a Quality function in an Engineering-based heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 manufacturing organizations.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with Quality Management Systems, Product Realization Systems, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, both internally and externally, to customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to utilise statistical analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel and other software packages.
  • Ability to interface and collaborate effectively with all levels of management and across functional lines.

Additional Information

This will be a days base, Quality Engineer vacancy located in Sheffield paying 35,000 to 45,000 with strong development and progression opportunities.
