Analytical Chemist

Job Summary
To work as part of a team analysing the company's products and raw materials to ensure compliance with
customer requirements and in accordance with external accredited bodies such as UKAS and NADCAP.
Operating a range of analytical equipment within the company's laboratories on a shift basis. Evaluating,
entering and certification of data.


Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Preparation of a wide variety of samples for different analytical techniques.
* Carry out a range of testing following Safety and Quality procedures on a range Super Alloys.
* Ensure testing equipment is maintained and calibrated prior to use.
* Ensure testing is carried out in accordance with the relevant procedure/specification.
* Evaluate the results against the standard/specification.
* Report discrepancies in results to technical supervision.
* Validate/ certify results on relevant media.
* Participate in quality audits as required.
* Order entry, general administration, responding to incoming customer queries.
* Work to provide results in a timely manner in accordance with planned dates.
* Work in a safe and efficient manner, participate in company safety and CI initiatives.
* Develop personal competence by internal and external training as required.
* Assist with equipment standardisation.


Skills, Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements:
* Metallurgy/Materials Science, Science or Chemistry based based qualification e.g. BTEC/ONC/HNC.
Candidates without these qualifications but who can demonstrate relevant industrial knowledge and
experience will be considered.
* Computer literate.


Demonstrable Experience of:
* Relevant experience of optical emission spectroscopy, x-ray fluorescence Carbon, Sulphur N2 and
O2 analysis by combustion, residual analysis by Atomic Absorption.
* Working in a UKAS/NADCAP laboratory-based environment
* CI initiatives/activities.
* Shift Working - 4 on 4 off
* Positive attitude to safety & quality.


The position also includes a bonus of up 4,126 per annum (1,031 per quarter) OTE 45,388
