Head of Sales
Location: Sheffield (Hybrid – Minimum 2 days on-site per week)Salary: Circa £60k + Car Allowance + Bonus
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Head of Sales to lead and develop our sales function, covering on-site telesales, external sales account management, and customer service. This is a hands-on leadership role, working closely with the General Manager to drive revenue growth, expand market share, and enhance customer relationships. It is essential you have business experience of the chocolate industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to achieve company growth targets.
- Lead and manage the telesales team, external sales account managers, and customer service teams, ensuring high performance and alignment with business objectives.
- Drive new business development, nurture and expand relationships with existing clients.
- Identify market trends, opportunities/challenges within the chocolate and bakery sectors.
- Collaborate closely with marketing and product teams to optimize sales initiatives and promotional campaigns.
- Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics, providing insights and action plans to improve results.
- Ensure best practices in customer service and account management to enhance client satisfaction and retention.
- Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the sales team to enhance capabilities and motivation.
- Work on-site in Sheffield at least two days per week and travel as required to visit key customers and industry events.
Person Specification
- Proven experience in a sales leadership role, preferably in the chocolate, bakery, food ingredients, or related sectors.
- A hands-on leader with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve sales targets.
- Strong experience in both telesales and field sales management.
- Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work closely with senior leadership to influence business strategy.
- Data-driven mindset with experience in using CRM systems and sales performance analysis tools.
- Ability to be on-site in Sheffield at least two days per week and travel as needed.
- Previous experience working with artisan, industrial, or wholesale customers in food sectors.
- Understanding of chocolate, bakery, or confectionery production processes.
- Experience in leading sales through a period of growth and transformation.
