Two new interesting roles of Governance Officer have been created within our client's Governance, Projects and Collaboration team. The roles are based at this Fire & Rescue Service's Central Headquarters, Sheffield city centre, with agile working including home working, fire stations and other sites as required.

The overall purpose of the roles are to support the governance and administration of the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority (SYFRA) and other internal and external governance arrangements. SYFRA is a statutory body made up of 12 local councillors from the district councils of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield who oversee the efficient and effective delivery of fire and rescue services across South Yorkshire.

The key duties will include working closely with the Head of Governance & Legal Services / Monitoring Officer to plan out all the SYFRA meetings, book and organise these, provide meeting support, create meeting packs, minutes and relevant documentation, and to support the co-ordination of annual reports and assessments.

If you have previous experience of providing high quality, professional administrative support to governance arrangements in a public sector organisation and are interested in the work of fire and rescue services, this service would love to hear from you. Use your excellent communication skills, ability to prioritise and manage deadlines and work with confidentiality and sensitivity, and extensive Microsoft Office applications knowledge, to help this organisation develop these new roles and ways of working.

New starters will commence on the bottom of the salary grade and will receive increases to the top of the grade on an incremental basis. The service offers 28 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus Bank Holidays. Annual leave increases after 5 years’ service to 32 days, followed by an extra day a year up to a maximum of 37 days.
